National Assembly: Ayib Daffé rules out no-confidence motion from extraordinary session

A no-confidence motion is not on the agenda for the extraordinary session opened at the National Assembly, according to Ayib Daffé. The president of the Pastef parliamentary group said the session’s sole purpose is Prime Minister Al Amine Lô’s general policy statement.

This position, reported by Senego, rules out at this stage the possibility of examining a no-confidence motion during the session. “No, the no-confidence motion is not on the agenda,” the MP said, recalling that the agenda concerns the general policy statement.

Conference of Presidents expected to organise the debate

The next steps now depend on the Conference of Presidents, which is responsible for setting the date and arrangements for the debate on the statement. Ayib Daffé also said that a quorum had been reached, considering that the National Assembly could continue its work as normal. For the Pastef group, the stated priority is therefore to establish a timetable for the debate on the general policy statement.
