EU places ChatGPT, Reddit and Roblox under stricter digital rules

The European Union is extending the application of its strictest digital requirements to ChatGPT, Reddit and Roblox. According to information reported by Euronews Next, ChatGPT is now classified as a search engine under the Digital Services Act (DSA).

The decision is a first for a chatbot. Reddit and Roblox have also been designated as very large online platforms, a status that subjects them to the enhanced framework provided for under European regulations.

A four-month deadline

The three services have four months to comply with the obligations arising from these classifications. The measure falls under the DSA, the European regulation governing digital services.
