Transfer market: Boulaye Dia agrees terms with Stade Rennais, negotiations with Lazio to continue
Boulaye Dia has reached a personal agreement with Stade Rennais, according to reports carried by Senego. The Breton club must still reach an agreement with Lazio Rome to complete the Senegalese forward’s move.
Boulaye Dia is edging closer to a return to France. The 29-year-old Senegalese forward, currently at Lazio Rome, has reached a personal agreement with Stade Rennais, according to information relayed by Senego and attributed to Sky Sport Italia.
However, the deal has not yet been finalised. Rennes must now reach an agreement with the Italian club on the terms of the transfer. The fee to be paid to Lazio is the remaining step before the move can potentially be completed.
A Rennes project that convinced the forward
The player is reportedly attracted by the Breton club’s project, with Rennes set to take part in the Europa League this season. Rennes are looking for an experienced attacking reinforcement and have identified the Senegal international for the role.
Boulaye Dia already knows the French league. A former Stade de Reims player, he has scored 24 goals in 78 Ligue 1 matches, according to the published information. For Senegal, he has made 39 appearances and scored six goals.
A return to Ligue 1 still subject to an agreement
Five years after leaving French football, the centre-forward could therefore return to Ligue 1 if the two clubs conclude their talks. At this stage, only the agreement between the player and Stade Rennais is presented as secured; no agreement between Rennes and Lazio Rome has been announced.
