In Podor, Cheikhou Oumar Bâ focuses on delivering public projects

Cheikhou Oumar Bâ, Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Livestock, is continuing a tour of the Podor department. According to a post shared on his Facebook page, he travelled to Galoya, his hometown, for activities that notably included visits to religious leaders on the occasion of Mawlid.

During this stop, the minister held discussions with local residents and stakeholders. Several commitments were presented on agriculture, livestock farming, social cohesion and the implementation of public projects. The initiative also aimed to gather concerns raised locally and address the difficulties encountered.

Expectations in productive sectors and infrastructure

In Galoya, the reported needs notably concern agriculture, livestock farming and infrastructure. Cheikhou Oumar Bâ stressed the need to speed up the implementation of public programmes and turn announcements into concrete action, in a context marked by the challenges of the rainy season.

The minister also placed peace and dialogue with religious communities among the priorities. He called for maintaining a stable environment and strengthening exchanges between the different parts of the community.

A call for collective action

For the minister, issues related to agriculture, livestock farming, youth, employment, infrastructure and food sovereignty transcend political divisions. He therefore invited stakeholders in the department to unite their efforts to support the development of Podor and Galoya, stressing the role expected of young people in this momentum.

The tour was also marked by the final of the 2026 Mayor's Cup, chaired on Thursday, 27 August in Galoya. ASC Bababé won the match against ASC Almamy by 1 goal to 0. Meetings with development stakeholders then continued over the weekend.
