Yango Senegal says it has provided material support to the communities of Tivaouane and Thiénaba during the Gamou celebrations. According to the company, the assistance includes the delivery of equipment and essential supplies for pilgrims hosted in the two religious towns.

The initiative comes amid the large crowds drawn by the Gamou, an event that creates accommodation, rest and logistical needs in the host cities over a few days.

Consultations with religious authorities

Representatives of Yango Senegal travelled to Tivaouane and Thiénaba, where they met the Khalifa of Thiénaba as well as representatives of the Khalifas of Tivaouane, the company said. Yango described the discussions as a way of tailoring its intervention to locally expressed needs.

Aïcha Niang, identified as Country Manager of Yango Senegal, said the aim was to identify the practical needs associated with hosting a large number of pilgrims and contribute to addressing them.

After the Magal of Touba

Yango Senegal said the initiative follows support it had previously provided during the Magal of Touba. The company said it aims to support major spiritual and cultural gatherings and strengthen its ties with local institutions.
