Bignona: Town Hall supports ASCs competing in the 2026 departmental stages
The municipality of Bignona has provided an in-kind grant to ASCs qualified for the 2026 departmental stages. The assistance is intended to ease expenses related to team gatherings.
Bignona Town Hall has provided an in-kind grant to Sports and Cultural Associations (ASCs) qualified for the 2026 departmental stages. The donation ceremony was held on municipal premises.
According to Mayor Bacary Diatta, the support is intended to help teams meet the costs generated by the gatherings planned as part of the competition. The municipality has supported ASCs since 2022 so that they can represent the commune in departmental or zonal stages.
Eight to nine teams expected
Across all organisations, eight to nine ASCs are expected to represent Bignona at departmental level. The grant comes ahead of the travel and participation of these various teams in the upcoming stages.
A call for fair play
During the handover, Bacary Diatta urged ASCs in the commune to demonstrate exemplary behaviour throughout the competition. He stressed fair play, discipline and the need for teams to return in good conditions.
The mayor also said he hoped Bignona’s representatives would leave a good impression wherever they are received. While hoping to see the trophy return to the commune, he recalled that sporting stakes should not take precedence over respect for the rules and opponents.
