The National Police conducted an inspection of the sites selected for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games (YOG), covering both competition venues and so-called non-competition sites, Senego reports, citing Rewmi.

The visit was led by Mamadou Tendeng, divisional commissioner and Dakar Central Police Commissioner. He is also presented as head of Dakar’s Operational Command Post (PCO) and chairman of the CNS YOG planning and operations commission.

Instructions for teams at the venues

During the inspection, Mamadou Tendeng asked site managers to regularly hold briefings with their staff. These discussions must focus in particular on expected conduct and the rules of international sport.

According to the same source, the Central Police Commissioner welcomed the smooth progress of the visit and the security measures already in place. The stated aim is to strengthen preparations for the arrangements that will oversee the Games.

Drills already conducted

This stage follows the full-scale tests dubbed “Evans”, conducted by the National Police on 7 and 8 August 2026 at the Tour de l’Œuf complex and Iba Mar Diop Stadium. The drills were intended to assess the responsiveness of the forces, the robustness of the arrangements and coordination between the National Police PCO and the CNS Dakar 2026 YOG Operations Coordination Centre.

Discussions with French authorities

YOG security preparations have also been discussed between Senegal and France. Senego reports that Senegal’s Interior Minister, Mouhamadou Makhtar Cissé, spoke by telephone with his French counterpart Laurent Nuñez, notably on 29 July 2026. The French support mentioned by the source draws on the experience of the Paris 2024 Games.
