Gorée Island: Official Tourist Information to Help Plan Your Visit

Gorée Island is among the places many visitors wish to include in their itinerary in Senegal. To plan a stay and obtain general information about the destination, the Senegalese Tourism Promotion Agency (ASPT) is the public reference body for tourism promotion.

The ASPT’s role in planning a stay

Created in 2014, the ASPT operates under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture, Crafts and Tourism. Its responsibilities include promoting tourism, enhancing the appeal of the “Destination Senegal, Land of Teranga” and stimulating domestic tourism.

The Agency is also responsible for providing the public with general information on the destination and its tourism offering. It supports the development of tourism products and helps improve the quality of services and amenities provided by industry professionals.

Tourism as a lever for promoting the destination

Beyond providing information to visitors, the ASPT runs promotional programmes, forms partnerships for sector-related initiatives and coordinates Senegal’s participation in international events. Its duties also include monitoring source markets and organising promotional activities, such as familiarisation tours and press trips.
