In Gaza, a desalination truck brings drinking water to displacement camps

A truck equipped with a small mobile desalination unit travels through displacement camps in the southern Gaza Strip to distribute drinking water to residents.

The system relies on treating seawater on site to make it safe for consumption. It was designed to be moved from one camp to another, according to identified needs.

A mobile response to supply difficulties

The installation is intended to support people facing difficulties accessing safe water. Its mobility allows it to operate in different displacement camps in the south of the territory.

However, the capacity of this small unit remains limited. It therefore only partially meets drinking-water needs, but helps ease the supply problems faced by many Gaza residents.

Seawater treated on site

The truck carries the equipment needed to desalinate seawater wherever it is deployed. Once made drinkable, the water can be supplied to residents of the camps it visits.

The project therefore relies on a mobile solution designed to adapt to the needs of the different sites hosting displaced people.
