Juan Espino, from Senegal’s wrestling arena to real estate in Spain
Known in Senegal by the nickname “White Lion”, Juan Francisco Espino Dieppa made his mark in traditional wrestling before continuing his career in MMA all the way to the UFC. The former Canarian fighter now works in real estate while remaining involved in wrestling in his country.
Juan Francisco Espino Dieppa, from the Canary Islands, made a name for himself in Senegal’s wrestling arena from 2008. Nicknamed the “White Lion”, he was one of the foreign wrestlers who left a mark on the country’s traditional wrestling scene.
After joining the Balla Gaye school, he recorded seven undefeated victories against several of the discipline’s heavyweights, according to the reported information. His experience in Senegal was a defining stage in his career as a fighter.
A path to MMA and the UFC
After his time in Senegalese wrestling, Juan Espino turned to mixed martial arts. His career took him to the UFC, where he won the final of the 28th season of The Ultimate Fighter in 2018.
At the end of his fighting career, his MMA record stood at 12 wins, 2 losses and one draw.
A move into real estate
The former wrestler then began a professional transition in Spain’s real estate sector. He manages a portfolio of 50 rental chalets as well as a hotel.
He is also developing a project involving 100 seaside villas. However, this activity has not taken him away from the world of wrestling.
Still connected to combat sports
Juan Espino now serves as the national wrestling coach in his country. He has therefore maintained ties with a discipline that helped build his reputation, notably during his time in Senegal’s wrestling arena.
