Weather: Rain and thunderstorms forecast in southern and central Senegal
Rain and thunderstorms are forecast in several southern and central regions between noon on 2 September and noon on 3 September 2026, according to ANACIM forecasts relayed by Senego. The day of 2 September is also expected to be marked by high temperatures, reaching 41°C in Podor.
Rain and thunderstorms are expected in parts of southern and central Senegal between 12 noon on 2 September 2026 and 12 noon on 3 September, according to forecasts from the National Civil Aviation and Meteorology Agency (ANACIM), relayed by Senego.
The regions of Kédougou, Kolda, Sédhiou, Ziguinchor, Tambacounda, Kaffrine, Kaolack, Diourbel and Fatick are among the areas covered by the forecast.
Significant heat across the country
Meanwhile, forecast maximum temperatures for Wednesday remain high across the country. Podor is expected to record the highest reading, at 41°C. Matam is forecast to reach 38°C, Kaffrine 37°C and Bakel 36°C.
In several other locations, expected highs range from 31°C to 35°C: 32°C in Dakar and Mbour, 34°C in Thiès, Diourbel and Tambacounda, 33°C in Kaolack and Fatick, 31°C in Kédougou, and 35°C in Ziguinchor, Saint-Louis, Louga and Linguère.
Caution urged over forecast conditions
The forecast therefore combines a risk of thunderstorms in the targeted regions with high temperatures in many parts of the country. Caution is advised in light of these weather conditions.
