Touba neighbourhoods still affected by stagnant water

In Touba, stagnant water continues to affect several neighbourhoods, with roads cut off, homes flooded and travel made difficult. In some areas, residents have left their homes because of the persistent water.

In Darou Khoudouss in particular, homes remain inundated despite the presence of motor pumps. The affected communities are calling for swift action to help drain the water and restore traffic conditions.

Vulnerable areas remain under pressure

The situation continues even though the rainfall has been described as light. However, the consequences remain visible in the most exposed neighbourhoods: impassable roads, difficult access to homes and disruption to residents' daily lives.

The difficulties are concentrated in areas identified as vulnerable or critical by the services responsible for flood management.

Work announced in Touba and Tivaouane

The director of Flood Prevention and Management, Malick Cissé, acknowledged that difficulties persist in the most vulnerable areas. He said the state had undertaken efforts in these areas and that work was under way in both Touba and Tivaouane to improve stormwater management.

The official believes the situation remains under control and that no extremely difficult situation has been recorded so far. This assessment comes as stagnant water continues to affect traffic and living conditions in the neighbourhoods still impacted.
