Weather: Widespread Heat and Thunderstorm Risk in the South

Senegal is expected to experience generally fair weather, with cloudy spells across the country, according to the latest bulletin from the National Agency for Civil Aviation and Meteorology (ANACIM), valid until midday Tuesday.

However, conditions will not be uniform. Rain and thunderstorms are forecast in the south, while heat will remain particularly intense in other parts of the country.

Thunderstorms Expected in the South

The regions of Kédougou, Kolda, Sédhiou and Ziguinchor are expected to see rain accompanied by thunderstorms in the evening and overnight.

These disturbances could also extend to the south-central areas. Tambacounda, Kaffrine, Koungheul, Kaolack and Fatick are among the localities likely to receive showers, according to the reported forecasts.

Up to 40°C in the East and North

Across the rest of the country, skies are expected to remain clear to partly cloudy. Temperatures will remain high, ranging from 36 to 40°C.

The highest temperatures are expected in the eastern and northern regions. The period will therefore be marked both by persistent heat across much of the country and a risk of thunderstorms in southern areas.
