The Prime Minister’s general policy statement is scheduled at the National Assembly for Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at 10 a.m. The date was set on September 1 by the Conference of Presidents, at the opening of an extraordinary session of Parliament.

The schedule was established in accordance with Articles 22 and 77 of the National Assembly’s Rules of Procedure. It puts an end to uncertainty over the holding of this parliamentary session.

A date that can still be changed

The National Assembly nevertheless specifies that the President of the Republic may change this date within the regulatory eight-day period. If no change is made, the Prime Minister will therefore appear before lawmakers on September 8.

An appointment before lawmakers

The general policy statement is intended to allow the head of government to outline the broad directions of his action, his priorities and the measures planned to implement government policy. The session is also expected to include exchanges between the Prime Minister and lawmakers, in accordance with the rules set out in the Rules of Procedure.
