Côte d’Ivoire have taken control of Group F in the qualifiers for the 2027 Basketball World Cup. After two second-round matchdays at the Dakar Arena, the Ivorian team have 15 points and remain unbeaten during this window.
Senegal and Mali occupy the next two places with 14 points each. The Lions bounced back from their defeat to Egypt by beating Angola in the closing seconds. Brancou Badio was decisive in that match.
Angola and Egypt behind the leading trio
Angola are fourth with 13 points. The reigning Afrobasket champions began with a victory over the Democratic Republic of Congo before losing to Senegal.
Egypt follow with 12 points. Mali, for their part, responded after their first-matchday defeat to Côte d’Ivoire.
DR Congo still without a win in this window
The Democratic Republic of Congo are bottom of the standings with 10 points. They have yet to win a game during this window and still have fixtures against, notably, Côte d’Ivoire and Senegal.
The second window of the African qualifiers is scheduled from 26 February to 1 March 2026 at Dakar’s Stadium Marius Ndiaye. Madagascar are also expected in this sequence, which should give teams still seeking points an opportunity to revive their campaigns.
