Four men have been detained as part of an investigation conducted by the Yeumbeul-Comico police station, initially launched following a report of sexual harassment. The proceedings were subsequently widened to include several alleged offences, including criminal association, sexual harassment, an “act against nature”, deliberate transmission of HIV and endangering the lives of others.

A detention that triggered the proceedings

The first suspect was arrested on 29 August 2026, shortly after midnight, following a report made by a man living in Yeumbeul Diouma Peul Fouta. According to the reported information, WhatsApp exchanges preceded a proposal for a sexual relationship. A meeting arranged near the police station led to the arrest.

His questioning led investigators to three other men, who were subsequently arrested. The individuals implicated were questioned separately and gave conflicting accounts regarding the existence of relationships between them.

Phone analysis at the heart of the investigation

The seized phones are now being examined by investigators. WhatsApp and Messenger conversations reportedly made it possible to identify exchanges involving more people than in the initial report.

Serological requisitions sent to the Keur Massar Health Centre reportedly also showed that two people concerned were living with HIV. This element is cited among those that led to the alleged offences of deliberate transmission of HIV and endangering the lives of others being considered.

The legal classification of the facts, individual responsibilities and the possible existence of deliberate transmission remain to be established as part of the investigation and judicial proceedings.
