Dora Eboa found dead in Médina: The journey of a Cameroonian journalist

The body of Dorothée Temou Eboa, known as Dora Eboa, was discovered on 31 August in a residence in Médina, Dakar, several Senegalese media outlets report. The Cameroonian journalist was found in an advanced state of decomposition. Two reports place the discovery three days after her death.

The circumstances of her death have not been specified. Dakarposte says they are to be determined by the competent authorities.

A career between Cameroon and Dakar

Dora Eboa worked at Balafon Radio and then at Spectrum Television (STV) in Cameroon. She was notably associated with the programmes “7 Hebdo” and “Entretien avec…”. In 2015, she served as STV’s news director before leaving the channel a few months later, according to published accounts.

Her career then took her to Dakar, where she joined BBC Afrique as a journalist and presenter. Published reports subsequently describe a lasting distance from those close to her.

Years without news, then a reappearance

Her family had received no news from her since 2015, according to media outlets retracing her story. Her brother issued an initial missing-person appeal in August 2021, before her mother renewed the appeal in November 2024.

In March 2025, Dora Eboa was found alive in Dakar. Her mother then travelled to the Senegalese capital in an attempt to bring her back to Cameroon, but the effort was unsuccessful.

A discovery that has sparked emotion

In recent times, Dora Eboa had been living in a room in a three-room apartment in Médina and received few visitors, according to the reported information. The announcement of her death has sparked emotion within the Cameroonian community in Dakar.

Her death brings to an end a media career marked by work in Cameroonian radio and television, followed by several years of estrangement from her relatives.
