In Netteboulou, Bakary Signaté suspends his activities within Pastef
Bakary Signaté has announced that he is freezing his activities within Pastef. The former APR official, who joined the party in August 2024, cited a need to step back amid political uncertainties.
Bakary Signaté has formalised the suspension of his activities within Pastef. A political figure in Netteboulou, in the Tambacounda region, he intends to step back with his supporters in order to assess the political situation before clarifying his direction.
A former official of the Alliance for the Republic (APR), Bakary Signaté joined Pastef in August 2024. He had previously headed the Projects and Programmes Unit at the Ministry of Finance.
A need to step back
In the document cited by SeneNews, he explains his decision by referring to “upheavals” and periods of uncertainty which, in his view, require a period of introspection. He also cites a lack of political clarity, at odds with the expectations that had accompanied his joining Pastef.
At this stage, the suspension has not been accompanied by the announcement of a new political affiliation. Bakary Signaté plans to speak to the press in the coming days to set out the next steps in his political journey.
Netteboulou and Tambacounda at the heart of his message
The political official says the interests of the municipality of Netteboulou and the Tambacounda region will guide his future choice. During his two years of activism within Pastef, from August 2024 to August 2026, he is described as having contributed to the party’s electoral successes in the area.
