Death of Cheikh Ibra Fall Lamp Mbacké: Mouride Khalif asks faithful not to travel to Touba

Cheikh Ibra Fall Lamp Mbacké, son of the Mouride Caliph General, Serigne Mountakha Bassirou Mbacké, died on Tuesday, 1 September 2026, corresponding to 18 Rabi al-Awwal 1448 AH. He was buried in Touba overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday.

In a statement signed by its secretary-general, the family of Serigne Touba Khadimou Rassoul said it had received this ordeal and called on Muslims to pray for the deceased.

Prayers in Touba and ceremony in Porokhane

A day of prayers and Quran recitals has been announced for this Wednesday, 2 September, in Touba. The third-day ceremony is scheduled for Friday, 4 September, in Porokhane, where the deceased lived with his family.

The Mouride Caliph General invites worshippers to offer their prayers from their place of residence. He has also asked state authorities, the diplomatic corps, religious families, disciples and citizens wishing to show solidarity not to travel to Touba.

A second bereavement in less than a month

This death comes less than a month after the passing of Sokhna Mame Amy Mbacké, sister of Cheikh Ibra Fall Lamp Mbacké. The Caliph General thanked Muslims, authorities, the diplomatic corps and citizens who showed solidarity with his family.
