In Ndiassane, the general khalife calls for forgiveness and rejection of violence

The general khalife of Ndiassane, Cheikh Bouh Sidy Makhtar Kounta, placed his Gamou message under the banner of peace, forgiveness and social cohesion. He urged Muslims not to support violence and to safeguard stability within their communities.

The religious leader linked this cohesion to truth, solidarity and the rejection of remarks likely to fuel divisions. Referring to the teachings of the Prophet Mouhamed (PSL), he also called on worshippers to work while preserving their dignity, to accept divine will and to maintain social ties.

Preserving relations between religious communities

Cheikhal Khalifa Kounta welcomed the presence of several religious families in Ndiassane and their contribution to the success of the Gamou. He called for stronger relations among Senegal’s different religious communities through dialogue, peace and stability.

The spokesperson also thanked the state services mobilised for the organisation of the event. He said that the commitments announced had been fulfilled, and notably welcomed the availability of administrative and local authorities, including the governor of Thiès, Saër Ndao.

A message to the media

The general khalife acknowledged the work of the national press in covering religious events. However, he asked media professionals to demonstrate responsibility, notably by avoiding the dissemination of images or information that could offend certain sensibilities.

In his address, the media’s mission was thus linked to preserving peace, stability and social cohesion in Senegal.
