Touba: Serigne Mountakha Mbacké calls for prayer after two family bereavements

The Mouride caliph general, Serigne Mountakha Mbacké, has issued a message of thanks and reflection following the death of two of his children in less than a month.

Sokhna Amy Mbacké, also known as Ma-Amy, died on 5 August. On 1 September, Serigne Ibrahima Mbacké, known as Serigne Lamp, was killed in a road accident on the Louga road. The two deceased shared the same mother, according to the reported message.

A call for reflection

From his spiritual retreat, the caliph had his message conveyed by Serigne Abdou Latyf Mbacké. In it, he expresses his gratitude to God and offers his condolences to the disciples sharing this ordeal.

Serigne Mountakha Mbacké also thanked those who expressed their support for him, in Senegal and across the diaspora. He asked worshippers to favour prayers offered at home rather than travelling.

A ceremony announced in Porokhane

The burial has already taken place. An official prayer ceremony is nevertheless planned in Porokhane, at the Darou Tanzil daara. Serigne Ibrahima Mbacké was responsible for safeguarding and ensuring the continuity of the institution there on the caliph's instructions, the relayed message states.
