In a message published on Facebook and reported by Le Soleil, the head of state conveyed his condolences to the Khalife General of Médina Baye, Cheikh Mouhamadou Mahi Ibrahima Niass, as well as to the Baye Niass family, the Fayda Tidjaniya community and worshippers.
Death in Morocco
Cheikh Mouhamadou Macky Ibrahima Niass, described as the Khalife General's younger brother, died in Morocco early on Monday evening. He had been staying there for several months for medical reasons, according to the newspaper.
The death of the religious leader has plunged the city of Médina Baye into mourning and sparked deep emotion within the Niassene community, the same source said.
