Ndiassane: Gamou 2026 focuses on prophetic ethics

The religious town of Ndiassane is hosting the annual Gamou of the Kountiyou family this Tuesday, 1 September 2026. Each year, this religious gathering brings together thousands of worshippers from Senegal and several other countries to celebrate the birth of the Prophet Mouhamed (PSL) and pass on the teachings of Islam.

A reflection on contemporary crises

The theme chosen for this edition, “Prophetic ethics in the face of contemporary crises,” places the Prophet’s teachings and virtues at the heart of discussions. The planned reflections will focus in particular on values, ethics, conduct and responsibility in addressing the challenges of contemporary society.

The “Rawdul Hasīb” scientific committee of the ahloul Kuntiy community, chaired by Serigne Abdourahmane Kounta, presents the theme as an invitation to bring the prophetic moral model, conveyed through the Quran, the Sunna and the Sufi tradition, into dialogue with present-day realities.

A spiritual and social framework

According to the committee, this approach is intended to address the ethical, social and spiritual crises cited in the contemporary world. The Ndiassane Gamou is thus framing its programme around reflection on the relevance of religious references in the face of these issues.
